Sparky the Plug

The rally, in reality, started in October last year, the preparation and planning is just as important as the driving; we are slowing becoming better with cars. In simple terms though our car has a three-cylinder engine: Only two of them work. Our brilliant mechanic (Alladins garage in Summertown), was able to figure out the problem.

After a brief panic that we had a compression problem in cylinder 1 (would have required the engine to be disassembled) we found it was electrical. Right now they are replacing the spark plugs and ignition coils. Once this problem is fixed, we’re going to drive to a scrap yard and see if there are any mark1 polos, fabias or ibizas that we can cannibalise for spares: Then the car will be ready to go.

We’ve been watching the news more recently as the US and Iran are having a bit of a barny, we were worried that the Iranian visas would be cancelled and we would have to go on our alternate route across the Caspian Sea. But today We got the good news: the visas are granted and we can go to London and pick them!!! That was the last visa!!!! Looking ready to race.

Finally, this July is sarcoma awareness month, I would like everyone reading this blog to go on the BCRT website ( https://www.bcrt.org.uk/ ) and check out the work that they do. They’re a really worthwhile charity; only formed recently and need all the help they can get.
